Independent candidate for Berowra, Tina Brown, has today condemned the bullying, harassment, and intimidation of her volunteers at the Cherrybrook pre-poll booth, calling on Liberal MP Julian Leeser to stand down those responsible.
“This morning, volunteers from my campaign—many of them local residents simply exercising their democratic right—were subjected to aggressive, intimidating behaviour by Liberal Party representatives at the Cherrybrook early voting booth,” Ms Brown said.
“What is even more disappointing is that Julian Leeser personally witnessed this disgraceful behaviour. He was asked to intervene and protect the integrity of the voting environment, but instead he turned his back and walked away.”
Ms Brown said the incident shows a complete failure of leadership at a time when the community deserves better. The incident was serious enough in nature that the AEC was informed who then immediately called the Police.
“Leadership is not about standing by when members of your own team intimidate others. It’s about stepping up, setting the standard, and calling it out—no matter how uncomfortable it may be,” she said.
“I am calling on Julian Leeser to immediately stand down those responsible for the bullying and harassment that took place this morning. There is no place for this behaviour in Berowra’s democracy.”
Ms Brown reaffirmed her commitment to a respectful, fair, and community-focused campaign.
“My volunteers will not be bullied into silence. They are standing up for a better future for Berowra, and I will always stand with them.”
“Berowra deserves leadership built on respect, integrity, and courage—not intimidation and silence. Our community expects—and demands—better.”
